Over my lifetime as a self-taught artist I have studied art history to broaden my knowledge, made a practice of painting with both oils and acrylics, acquired varied and exciting techniques and learned how to make and use mixed media. Combining these diverse inspirations and techniques has shaped my work. During the pandemic, when staying-at-home, I was introduced to a new area of making art; creating original colorful printed patterns, often on translucent paper, to endlessly juxtapose color, shape, line and depth. For me this new path unlocked the extraordinary power and versatility of paper based art. It inspired me to explore a dynamic range of forms using paint or inks — stamping intricate drawings incised on foam, hand-making unique, individual stencils, and making beautiful prints on a Gelli Plate.

To experiment and evolve creating mixed-media collage has offered an exciting and compelling view of the medium’s possibilities.
